Thank-you to All who Joined Us!
Thank you to all those who joined in on the parade festivities. We would also like to thank the Same Old People and North Country Fair for helping fund the parade this year, and for welcoming the All Species Parade every year to the fair! Thanks to all who took photos of the parade for the NEC, to 350 Humboldt for welcoming us to their salmon workshops, and to all who made umbrellas for the parade (including the HSU Art Education Club, EPIC, and others). Thank you to Bandemonium, SambAmore, the Arcata Playhouse, and the Trillium Dance Studio, for offering your wonderful creative skills.
Sanctuary for All Species
The theme of the 2017 All Species Parade was 'Sanctuary for All Species'. This was represented by umbrellas throughout the parade that were decorated like different conservation areas; from Yosemite to Marine Protected Areas. When the band gave a cue, all of the critters ran to their closest protected area! Protected areas of all types provide sanctuary for all species.
Mask-Making and Creature-Making Workshops
The 2017 mask-making workshop was held at the Arcata Sanctuary. Dozens of people came to decorate masks, costumes, and umbrellas. Thank you to the Same Old People for sponsoring this event!
The Endangered Art Show
For the 2017 North Country Fair, the Northcoast Environmental Center hosted an art show to celebrate the Endangered Species Act! For more information and to view our online gallery, click HERE.
